Company History

1950
Company Foundation

Karl Wich establishes a sawmill in Wernberg and begins producing railway sleepers. With expertise and investment, the company quickly grows and continuously takes on new areas of business.

1965
Pallet Pioneer

Rudolf Wich, the founder’s son, begins the mechanical production of Euro pallets, making him one of Germany’s pioneers in manufacturing the globally recognized exchangeable pallet.

The EURO pallet and the Bundeswehr four-way pallet, which was technically very sophisticated due to its 9-point riveting and impregnation, were the best-selling products in the following years.

1990
Partner to Industry

After Rudolf Wich’s death, his son Tobias takes over the management.

In the mid-1990s, he entered the large-scale industrial sector by supplying pallets and wooden crates for the global CKD shipping of the automotive industry.

Due to reliability, flexibility, and performance, customers in the printing, food, and glass industries, as well as medical technology, were also acquired.

1990
Partner to Industry

However, to survive in the tough competition, the company structure had to be fundamentally changed.

The production company became a trading company with a supplier network in Germany, the Czech Republic, Poland, and Slovakia.

The willingness to adapt to the ever-increasing demands for quality (ISPM 15) and delivery times (just-in-time) was the main criterion in selecting manufacturers and logistics service providers.

2016
On a Growth Path

Wich Vertriebs GmbH supplies approximately two million pallets and packaging per year to customers across Europe.

Today, production companies with more than 250 employees and transport companies with jumbo vehicles that comply with the highest EU emission standards are among the partners of Wich Vertriebs GmbH.

2022
4th Generation

Maximilian and Moritz Wich join the family business.
